Jing was born in 1978 in Dingyuan, Anhui, China. He received a B.S. degree in 1998 from Nanjing University. He then pursued his Ph.D. with John Hartwig at Yale, a post-doctoral appointment with Dean Toste at UC Berkeley and a second post-doctoral appointment with Chuan He at the University of Chicago. Jing is currently a Professor of Chemistry at Nanjing University.
